You should have to know about Pakistan Air Force Ranks and Insignia. PAF used to follow the rank insignia of British Air Force when came into being. However, on 5 July 2006, PAF replaced his insignia from British Air Force to Turkish Air Force. In this article, we have explained the PAF Ranks and Salary who is proud of the nation.

Non-Commissioned Officer

Selected candidates for Airmen (Non-Commissioned Officer) get sent to Pre Trade Training School PTTS (Kohat) for Basic Military Training. During training, candidates get skills of technical and necessary stuff.

Candidates moved to Karachi for technical training like electronics, Aeronautics, Logistics and Information Technology and other stays at Kohat for further training like Accounts, Finance and Medical.

After completing the training, candidates got the rank of Aircraftman in Pakistan AirForce. The following are the PAF Airmen ranks:

The rank of Aircraftman is BPS-7 and it is equal to Soldier in Pak Army.

Leading Aircraftman

After getting a promotion by passing exams, Aircraftman becomes the Leading Aircraftmen. The rank of Leading Aircraftman is equal to Lance Havildar and BPS-8.

Senior Aircraftman

The rank of Senior Aircraftman is equal to Havildar in Pak Army and Able Seaman in Navy. The pay scale of Senior Aircraftman is BPS-9.

The next rank is Junior Technician that is equal to Company Quartermaster Havildar and pays scale is BPS-10.

Corporal Technician

Junior Technician becomes Corporal Technical after getting promotion and pay scale is BPS-11. The rank of Corporal Technician is equal to  Company Havildar Major in Pakistan Army and Leading Seaman in Pak Navy.

Senior Technician

This is the last rank in Non-Commissioned Officers. The pay scale of Senior Technician is BPS-12. Its rank is equal to Petty Officer in Pak Navy and Battalion Quartermaster in Pak Army.

The first rank of Junior Commissioned Officer is Assistant Warrant Officer and the pay scale is BPS-14. Its rank is equal to Naib Subedar and Chief Petty Officer.

Note: Non-Commissioned officers can become Commissioned Officer after promotion.

Assistant Warrant Officer gets ranks of Warrant Officer. The pay scale is BPS-15 and its ranks is equal to Subedar and Fleet Chief Petty Officer.

This is the last rank of Junior Commissioned Officers. The pay scale of the Chief Warrant Officer is BPS-16 and the rank is similar with Subedar Major and Master Chief Petty Officer.

Most JCOs get to retire after this rank.

Commissioned Officers

Firstly, Commissioned Officers get professional and general military training at PAF Academy Risalpur

Pilot Officer

Cadets become Pilot Officer after completing the training. The Basic Pay Scale of Pilot Officer is 17 and its rank is equal to Second Lieutenant in Army and Midshipman in Navy.

Flying Officer

The next rank is Flying Officer. After promotion, the Pilot officer becomes Flying Officer and the pay scale is BPS-17. This rank is equal to Lieutenant and Sub-Lieutenant in Navy.

Not all Flying Officers do fly. Mostly are aircrew members or do on-ground support. while some have the command to do flights on-ground basis.

Flight Lieutenant

The pay scale of Flight Lieutenant is also BPS-17. This rank is equal to Captain in Pak Army and lieutenant in Navy.

Squadron Leader is the fourth rank in Commissioned Officers. It is equal to Major in Army and Lieutenant Commander in Pakistan Navy. The Basic Pay Scale BPS is 18.

Wing Commander

Wing Commander is equal to Lieutenant Colonel and Commander in Pakistan Navy and pays scale is BPS-18. The rank of Wing Commander is equal to Lieutenant Colonel in Pak Army and Commander in Naval.

Group Captain

After getting a promotion, Wing Commander becomes Group Captain and the pay scale is BPS-19. Mostly, the officers of this category get retirement. The rank of Group Captain is equal to Colonel in Pak Army and Captain in Pak Navy.

Air Commodore is the One Star Officer and the pay scale is BPS-20. The rank of Air Commodore is equal to Brigadier in Pak Army and Commodore in Pakistan Navy.
