Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) is a Paramilitary Force that operates under Pakistan Navy command. PMSA is a Navy-managed and Navy-controlled law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over Pakistan’s national and international waters including the exclusive economic zone and provides protection to the maritime interests of the country.
In compliance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the PMSA was established on 1 January 1987 as a federal regulatory agency of the Ministry of Defence, whose leadership and personnel is directly drawn from the Pakistan Navy.
PMSA also enforces maritime law and conducts long-range search and rescue operations to reduce human trafficking, smuggling, and deep sea search.
It is headed by an external officer appointed by the Pakistan Navy, known as the Director-General, who usually holds the rank of a Two Star Admiral, Rear Admiral is the senior rank of officers in the Navy.
Rear Admiral Muhammad Shuaib was appointed director of the agency in 2020.
China transferred coast guard vessels from its navy to PMSA in 2014, increasing its mission objectives and scope of responsibility to cover the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Pakistan Maritime Security Agency also known as PMSA, is a branch of Pakistan Navy that has its headquarters near the Karachi Fish Harbour and Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd (KSEW) in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.
PMSA has been headquartered at various commercial buildings since its inception in 1987, most notably the Karachi Port Trust Building, until its new headquarters became operational on 15 January 2011.
The Leadership and personnel of the agency are appointed directly from the Navy, and it is headed by the Rear-Admiral of the Pakistan Navy, who is a two-star rank.
Commander of Coastal Areas (COMCOAST) is the authority over the agency and oversees the operations on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

One aircraft squadron is operated by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency known as Squadron 93 PMSA. A Fokker F27 Friendship was introduced to the squadron on 23 June 1988 as an interim measure for sea surveillance.
In Jinnah Terminal, the aircraft was stationed to provide logistics support. Britten-Norman Defenders stationed at Mehran Naval Air Station was acquired by the PMSA in 1993.
