The Pakistan military also helps in natural disasters in Pakistan. Such as the great floods of 1992, October 2005, and Balochistan in 2008.

And the destructive Kashmir earthquake where army engineers, logistics personnel, medical, and the armed forces played a significant role in bringing relief and supplies.

There was no vital second wave of deaths from injury, cold, food deficiencies, or disease. And much honor for that probably goes to Pakistan Army.

Maybe more than anything else, the quake relief effort proved the growing importance of military forces in responding to disasters.

The entire Army Aviation flew innumerable sorties round the clock to take relief goods to the affected areas and brought sick and injured back to base hospitals where helicopters could not reach.

Men brought supplies on their backs and reached the needy. The relief operation of this magnitude could only take by the Armed Forces of Pakistan’s men and machines.

There are statements that the United Nations recommended the Pakistan military form a standby organization to respond in disasters. Integrated military-civilian responses are most likely to be successful in natural disasters.

The military’s role becomes more contentious as the immediate life-saving phase of an aid operation ends and the reconstruction phase takes over.

Therefore, military action takers need to develop their capacity to respond to disasters and build their ability to exit from disaster responses.

During national and international disasters and emergencies, it conducts humanitarian rescue operations at home and is an active participant in peacekeeping missions ordered by the United Nations (UN).

The Pak Army prominently executed a significant role in rescuing trapped American soldiers requesting a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) during Operation Gothic Serpent in Somalia.

Soldiers from the Pakistan Army also had a moderately strong presence as part of a broader UN coalition during the Bosnian War and more significant Yugoslav Wars.

History of Pakistan Army

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the most powerful Islamic Country. This is the Islamic country that has nuclear power. The Pakistan Army is the principal ground warfare branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

History of Pakistan Army

The story of the Pakistan Army is the tale of the birth of Pakistan.

The origins of its current existence are the tale of the British Indian Army that stopped to live following British India’s partition, resulting in the political act that established Pakistan’s independence on 14 August 1947.

Before even the distribution took place, there were plans ahead of arranging the British Indian Army in different segments based on India’s religious and ethnic influence.

Sir Chandulal Madhavlal Trivedi supervised a significant division of the army.

An Indian civil servant who was prominent in making sure that 260,000 men would be transferred into forming the Indian Army and the rest balance going to Pakistan after the United Kingdom authorized the independence act on the night of 14/15 August 1947.

Pakistan’s new Army had received extremely challenging command and control because Pakistan had received only six armored, eight artillery, and eight infantry regiments than the twelve armored, forty artillery, and twenty-one infantry regiments that India received.

As a result, the size of the new army was about 150,000 men strong.

It was quite a vast number for the Pakistan Army’s first Commander-in-Chief to fill the new army’s command positions. Around 13,500 military officers from the British Army had to be employed in the Pakistan Army.

Raised fears of India’s taking control over the state of Kashmir, the armed societies, and the unusual militia scouts entered in the Muslim-majority valley of Kashmir to defend the dictate of Hari Singh, a Hindu and the ruling Maharaja of Kashmir, in October 1947.

Hari Singh used his troops to check on the tribal allowances to keep his control over the princely state, but his troops failed to stop the valley’s advancing tribes.

Finally, Hari Singh urged Louis Mountbatten, the Governor-General of India, requesting the Indian Armed Forces deployment.

But the Indian government reported that the troops could be committed if Hari Singh agreed to India.

Hari Singh finally decided to concede with the Indian government terms, which ultimately led to the deployment of the Indian Army in Kashmir.

However, Pakistan’s agreement was defended since the deal did not include the  Kashmiri people’s approval.

Irregular fighting between militia and the Indian Army broke out, and units of the Pakistan Army under Maj-Gen. Akbar Khan finally joined the militia in their fight against the Indian Army.

It was Lieutenant-General Sir Frank Messervy who opposed the tribal attack in a cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan in 1947.

later giving up the command of the army in 1947, British officers in the Indian and Pakistan Army would be fighting with each other on the war front.

It was Lt-Gen. Douglas Gracey, who reportedly declined the direct orders from Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Governor-General of Pakistan, for the deployment of the army units and ultimately issued standing orders that ceased the teams of Pakistan Army to further participate in the fight.

By 1948, when it became necessary in Pakistan that India was about to mount a large-scale operation against Pakistan, Gen. Gracey did not oppose the army units’ deployment in the Indian Army’s conflict.

This earlier defiance of Gen. Gracey finally forced India and Pakistan to reach a compromise through the United Nation’s interference that Pakistan will control the Western Kashmir and India control the Eastern Kashmir.
