Frontier Corps (FC) Paramilitary Force of Pakistan

Frontier Corps is a Paramilitary Force of Pakistan known as the FC and was established in 1878. The duty of the Frontier Corps (FC) is to maintain law and order while monitoring the control of the country’s borders with Afghanistan and Iran, currently serving in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Frontier Corps consists of two separate groups, one is FC KPK and the second is FC Balochistan. FC KPK is serving in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province that is earlier recognized as the North-West Frontier Province and now includes the FATA (Now KPK).

FC Balochistan is serving in Balochistan province. Each group is supervised by a Pakistan Army officer of at least major-general rank

In fact, each FC itself falls under the interior minister’s jurisdiction.

The purpose of the Frontier Corps is to help local law enforcement, conduct border patrols and anti-smuggling operations with a workforce of approximately 80,000 personnel.

Some constituent units of the FC such as the South Waziristan Scouts, Khyber Rifles, the Tochi Scouts, Swat Levies, the Chitral, Scouts the Zhob Militia and the Kurram Militia regiments have a history dating back as far as British European colonial times.

During the 1965 war, the Khyber Rifles was established and fought with perfection in Kashmir.
